1. Root morphology and kinetics of Zn absorption by roots of common bean influenced by Zn status of the root environment
ABSTRACT Understanding the kinetics of Zn absorption by roots and its effect on morphology of this organ is relevant for improving crop management, but still poorly studied for common beans. Therefore, an experiment was conducted in a hydroponic system with five initial concentrations of Zn (CZnI): 0.0; 1.0; 4.0; 16.0 and 48.0 µmol L-1. The experiment was i

2. Genome selection in fruit breeding: application to table grapes
ABSTRACT Genomic selection (GS) has recently been proposed as a new selection strategy which represents an innovative paradigm in crop improvement, now widely adopted in animal breeding. Genomic selection relies on phenotyping and high-density genotyping of a sufficiently large and representative sample of the target breeding population, so that the majority

3. Agronomic evaluation of 'Bordô' grapevine (Ives) clones
'Bordô' grapevines (Vitis labrusca) have great relevance to viticulture due to the quality they can impart to wines and juices. However, this cultivar has high variation in yield, ranging from 6 to 11 t ha-1. The use of clones with superior genetic potential related to scions currently marketed may increase crop profitability and revitalize its cultivation.

4. SISTEMATIZAÇÃO DE CONHECIMENTO PARA O PROJETO DE PLATAFORMAS DE COLHEITA DE FEIJÃO / KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMATIZATION FOR THE DESIGN OF HARVEST HEADERS OF BEANS
Due to the need to increase in production and to the high rates of losses in the header because of machines with low efficiency in harvesting, it is presented, in this thesis the knowledge systematization needed to develop new header designs to harvest beans. This work presents the machines used for the harvest of beans, the harvesting systems, and a list of

5. Commercial quality of black bean genotypes.
Breeding programs are working to supply cultivars with improved agronomical characteristics, such as yield, disease resistance, and upright plant, among others. More recently other characteristics related to commercial quality that could contribute to increase the acceptance of a new cultivar are also being assessed such as market preference, and 100 seed ma

6. Cooking time of black beans genotypes evaluated in different environments.
Lines developed by breeding programs are expected to have improved agronomical characteristics, good culinary quality such as environment affected cooking time. Since the final quality tests of black bean lines from the Rice and Beans Research Center breeding program are carried out in a great number of environments. it is possible to determine the cooking t

7. Trigo BRS 264: cultivar precoce com alto rendimento de grãos indicada para o cerrado do Brasil Central.
ABSTRACT: Embrapa, through Embrapa Savanas and Embrapa Wheat have developed a new wheat cultivar, denoted BRS 264 (Triticum aestivum L), for the savana region of Central Brazil. The new cultivar is originated from the crossing Buckbuck/Chiroca/Tui. The selection from the F2 population was performed at Embrapa Savanas, at Planaltina, DF. It is indicated for i

8. Eficiência de fertilizantes com nitrogênio e enxofre sobre a composição quimico-bromatológica e algumas características agronômicas da cultura da cana-de-açúcar / Nitrogen and Sulphur fertilizing efficiency over the chemical-bromatological and some agronomical characteristics of sugar-cane culture

Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.), due it presents important agronomical characteristics such as high oil content, low water requirement and due the possibility of being cultivated in different times of the year, can become an important crop option for the production. The culture is still regarded as secondary in by brazilian productives system and it lacks m

10. Qualidade fisiolÃgica de sementes de soja convencional e RR associada ao conteÃdo de lignina / Physiological quality of conventional and RR soybean seeds associated with lignin content
In the latest crops, a strong and growing adherence of Brazilian farmers to RR transgenic soybean was found. Nevertheless, the hypothesis has been raised that these soybean cultivars are presenting differential hypotheses concerning the lignin contents in the plant, when compared with conventional cultivars. Such a variation could be occurring not only in th

11. Caracterização morfoagronômica de acessos de arroz (Oryza sativa L.) de terras altas.
Rice is the primary food source in many developing countries in the world, primarily for those located in Asian. The Oryza genus has 24 species, but only two are cultivated: O. glaberrima Steud. in the West of Africa and O. sativa L. in all part of the world. Those species are naturally hydrophytes, however the evolutionary process they become adapted for ma

The genetic breeding program of common beans at Instituto Agronômico (IAC) has released 38 cultivars to the present date, thus contributing to increase the average yield of the crop in Brazil and, mainly, in the state of São Paulo. In this context, the goal of the present work was to evaluate the genetic gains obtained in yield for common beans due to the
