1. DETERMINATION OF FOUR ARSENIC SPECIES IN ALGAE BY HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY COUPLED WITH HYDRIDE GENERATION ATOMIC FLUORESCENCE SPECTROMETRY
A rapid method has been developed for the determination of silver arsenite As(III), dimethylated arsenic DMA, monomethylated arsenic MMA, and arsenate As(V) in algae sample using liquid chromatography coupled with hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (LC-HG-AFS). Types, flow rate and pH of mobile phase were optimized. Under the optimal conditi

2. Role of glutathione in tolerance to arsenite in Salvinia molesta, an aquatic fern
ABSTRACT In many plant species, tolerance to toxic metals is highly dependent on glutathione, an essential metabolite for cellular detoxification. We evaluated the responses of glutathione metabolism to arsenite (AsIII) in Salvinia molesta, an aquatic fern that has unexplored phytoremediation potential. Plants were exposed to different AsIII concentrations i

3. Isolation and characterization of arsenic resistant bacteria from wastewater
The present study proposed the isolation of arsenic resistant bacteria from wastewater. Only three bacterial isolates (MNZ1, MNZ4 and MNZ6) were able to grow in high concentrations of arsenic. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of arsenic against MNZ1, MNZ4 and MNZ6 were 300 mg/L, 300 mg/L and 370 mg/L respectively. The isolated strains showed maximum gro

4. Study of sodium arsenite induced biochemical changes on certain biomolecules of the freshwater catfish Clarias batrachus
As manifestações tóxicas importantes incluiram o dec

5. Electrochemical detection of arsenite with silver electrodes in inorganic electrolyte and natural system mixtures

6. Polyphenols of Mangifera indica modulate arsenite-induced cytotoxicity in a human proximal tubule cell line
Inorganic arsenic is an ubiquitous environmental contaminant able to cause severe pathologies in humans, including kidney disorders. The possible protective effects of Mangifera indica L., Anacardiaceae, stem bark extract (MSBE) and some mango phenols on the cytotoxicity of arsenite (AsIII) in the proximal tubule cell line HK-2 was investigated. In cells cul

7. INVESTIGAÇÃO SOBRE A FORMAÇÃO DE ESPÉCIES DE ARSÊNIO ORGÂNICO EM SOLUÇÕES DE NUTRIÇÃO PARENTERAL
Parenteral nutrition is the nutrients administration by intravenous mean in patients who cannot consume them for gastrointestinal way. Parenteral Nutrition Solutions are stored in glass and plastic containers, being the glass the most used due to its rigid structure, chemical resistance, sterilization easiness and transparency. Among glass constituents is th

8. Effects of arsenite on meiosis, preimplantation development, and apoptosis in the mouse / Efeitos do arsenito na meiose, no desenvolvimento embrionário pré-implantação e na apoptose embrionária em camundongos

10. Molybdenum-Containing Arsenite Oxidase of the Chemolithoautotrophic Arsenite Oxidizer NT-26
The chemolithoautotroph NT-26 oxidizes arsenite to arsenate by using a periplasmic arsenite oxidase. Purification and preliminary characterization of the enzyme revealed that it (i) contains two heterologous subunits, AroA (98 kDa) and AroB (14 kDa); (ii) has a native molecular mass of 219 kDa, suggesting an α2β2 configuration; and (iii) contains two molyb

12. Inducible plasmid-determined resistance to arsenate, arsenite, and antimony (III) in escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
Plasmids in both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus contain an "operon" that confers resistance to arsenate, arsenite, and antimony(III) salts. The systems were always inducible. All three salts, arsenate, arsenite, and antimony(III), were inducers. Mutants and a cloned deoxyribonucleic acid fragment from plasmid pI258 in S. aureus have lost arsenate
