RESUMO

This thesis examines the mission of the World Bank (WB) in the process of reordering the capitalist system through its action in the period 1990-1996 in Argentina. The analysis starts by showing the role played by the Trilateral Commission and identify the main strategies of the World Bank as a tool of mediation. It is possible to highlight among them those wich orient the disciplinament of the bureaucracy of the Argentinian State, mainly those practiced by persuasive means. It is also studied the different dimensions of this process based on the trajectory of the Argentinian employees and the staff of the World Bank. And it is also made an analysis of the role played by the press and by the journalists in the construction of the image of this institution.
