A melodia da formação: um estudo das trajetórias de formação musical de estudantes da Escola de Música da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais

RESUMO

The main objective of this investigation was to argue, in a sociological perspective, the inaqualities of access to the superior course of Music at the UFMG. For in such a way, we search to identify the differences and similarities in the trajectories of musical formation of citizens proceeding from average and popular layers that had entered this institution. After traicing the economical profile of the population approved in the 1999-2005 courses of the School of Music (Source: COPEVE), we describe the trajectories of musical formation of twelve students of this school - 5 of them from popular layers and 7 from average layers - registered in diferent qualifications. This study undertook an immersion in the peculiarities and singularidades of each one of the trajectories, in the different faces of the musical formation of these citizens - from the times of childhood until the moment of entering in the superior course. Such boarding, taking the social origin of the investigated students as the main category, allowed us the identification some sociocultural factors that had significant influence in these processes of formation. Some of those factors where: the relation of the family with the cultural field, especially of music; the formative chances in specialized institutions, as well as the available chances in the education system.
