RESUMO

Objective: The scientific community has studied the voices use and its possible relation with the life habits. Therefore, this papers objective was to study the relations between voice and life habits of visitors in a public park in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Methods: The research is about an epidemiological study that was made with 400 Ibirapueras Park visitors. A protocol with 32 questions about identification, life habits, general health and vocal perception was applied. Results: Among the 400 visitors, 295 (51.2%) were males and 195 (48.8%) were females. Half of the participants (50%) are used to practicing exercises and the majority (65%) goes to the park during the week. Just 87 (21.8%) were voice professionals. The smoking habit was mentioned by 74 (18.5%) of the participants, the use of alcohol by 146 (36.5%) and the use of illicit drugs by 19 (4.8%). 72 (18%) visitors referred to health problems. The majority, 252 (63%), mentioned that their voice was good, 119 (29.8 %) regular and 29 (7.2%) bad. Regarding the present voice, 220 (55%) referred that it was good, 141 (35.3%) regular and 39 (9.7%) bad. A voice problem was referred by 107 (26.8%). The logistic regression analysis pointed the following chances for voice problems: 1.64 for female, 2.24 for voice self valuation as regular, 2.45 as bad voice, 1.77 for voice professionals and 1.67 for the weekend parks visitors and 2.55 for people that had or have health problems that could affect voice. Conclusions: At the present research, the voice problem presented relation with the following variants: female gender, being a voice professional, voice self-valuation, frequent the park on weekends and health problems
