RESUMO
The FTIR spectroscopy technique has been largely used as a diagnosis method because of its speed, sensivity anda capability to analyse the biomaterials in a non destructive way. This researchs aim is to analyse the possibility of using that technique to study collage fibers molecular agregation, as well as to determine the existence of something that indicates this phenomenon, since the collection is related to several physiological phenomenons as ossification, inflamation and aging. Four types of samples were analysed: non treated tendon, tendon treated with sulfate condroitin, tendon treated with papin and gelatin. It was noticed a rise in intensity of the amide I band (stretching C=O group) in the spectrum of the tendon treated with sulfate condroitin and it s reduction of the gelatin and the tendon treated with papain s spectrum im comparasion with the non treated spectrum. These results suggest an inverse relation between the low intensity of amide I band and the levei of collagen fibers molecular agregation. Therefore, it s possible to affirm that FTIR technique is able to detect alterations in the collagen fibers molecular agregation state and that the amide I band is the indicàtor for this phenomenon
