Analise das necessidades de tratamento odontologico dos pacientes atendidos no serviço de triagem-semiologia da FOP-UNICAMP

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to evaluate the dental care needs of the patients who were attended at the undergraduate dental clinic of the Piracicaba Dental School- UNICAMP. It was analyzed 1000 charts as well the panoramic radiography of the patients with age 12 years old and over screened by the Semiology Area. The mean age of the patients was 51 years old, 62% were female, 79.9% had white skin color and the majority had incomplete elementaIy school. The most frequent dental care needs were periodontal treatment (77.8%), followed by dental extraction (46.7%), root canal filling (34.6%) and dental filling, particularly classes 1 and 11. Other important finding was that 80% of the patients needed prosthetic rehabilitation. Among them, 48.8% of the patients had necessity of partial removable prosthesis (on one and/or both maxillaries), 15.1% needed total prosthesis and 16.1 % nonremovable prosthesis. Besides prosthesis, these patients had also indication of periodontal, surgical, endodontical and restorative treatments. Regarding the radiographic findings, the most frequent was osteosclerosis, followed by sinus maxillary pneumatization and impacted teeth. We concluded that the patients who were attended at FOP-UNICAMP are predomlnant1y female, white and have low education degree. The majority is partial edentulous and besides necessity of prosthesis, they also present necessity of periodontal, dental extraction, root canal filling and dental filling.
