ANÁLISE ESTRUTURAL DE COMPOSTOS DE LANTANÍDEOS TETRAHIDRATADOS

RESUMO

This paper is devoted to the structural analysis of lanthanide compounds with general formula RbLSTH, with L = Nd; Eu, S=(SO4)2 and TH=4H2O. Crystals obtained from these compounds are known to undergo thermotropic phase transitions. However, the structural phases involved are not completely characterized. Due to the lack of information concerning the thermodynamical behavior of the title compounds, we expect that the simultaneous employment of different experimental techniques can help us to elucidate some structural aspects of these crystals in a wide range of temperature. Working along these lines we have used X-ray single crystal structural analysis, thermal analysis and FTIR spectroscopy to characterize experimentally crystalline samples of these materials.
