RESUMO

The principal objective of this work is to study the behavior of a sensible heat storage system with stratified liquid. For this study, the analytical model used were based on the equations of conservation with boundary conditions chosen for each mode of operation of the storage system. These models were solved numerically using a finite difference method and the results presented show the degradation of stratification in the storage tank by natural cooling and its temperature behavior during charging and discharging operations. In order to establish the validity of the proposed models, the numerical results were tested against experiments carried out in an apparatus specifically designed and built in the heat storage laboratory of FEC-UNICAMP. Finally the experimental and theoretical results were compared and showed reasonably good agreement
