RESUMO
This work were interested in finding a method of fluid-structure coupling with infinite fluid medium. After a literature analysis in infinite fluid medium modeling, were adopted the Dirichlet-to-Neumann (DtN) Method, wich is exact, non refiexive and can be directly included in the Finite Element Method (FEM) wich is used in fluid-structure modeling. First, the classic finite element modeling for structure and fluid are presented with the formulation of some simple bi-dimensional elements. The DtN Method for infinite and semi-infinite fluid medium is presented with the discretized form for inclusion in FEM. The main implications of that are discussed. A method of expansion of results for outside of the discretized domain is presented. The fluid-structure modeling with DtN mapping (FEMjDtN) is presented. A investigation of the DtN Method is shown, with validation of the computational code adopted, analysis of the influence of the DtN parameters and analysis of the Method of Expansion of Results. Two examples were choosen for the investigation of the fluid-structure modeling with DtN mapping. The first is a comparision of experimental results (made by other author) of the acoustic field radiated from a vibrating plate in air medium (fulI space) with results obtainned using FEMjDtN. The second, brings a comparision of results obtainned using the Boundary Element Method, for the dynamic behaviour of a cantilever beam (clamped-free) in an infinite wall (semispace) with results obtainned using the FEMjDtN. Finally, are presented sugestions for future works in this research area
