RESUMO

In this work a three dimensional mathematical model was developed which permifs the integral analysis of the solidification process, as well as the necessary computer tools for practical applications. The model predictions were compared to experimental results obtained in the university laboratories, as well as in foundry industries and a good agreement was observed. Such results enable future applications of the developed model in qualified-projects of foundry systems, and in the analysis of solidification of complex shapes and different materials. Finally some techniques which permits optimizations in the development of computer programs are discussed. The resuIts obtained in this work are important for future research activities involving artificial intelligence techniques, control systems, applications of on line control in foundry systems, CAD/CAM, etc
