RESUMO

Nitrate and the microorganism solution (EM), in different treatments, were applied to the foliage of the Sol da manhã and BRS 1010 corn varieties, in order to evaluate nutrients level in different parts of the plants (vegetative and reproductive). It was also evaluated the possibility of the usage of an industrial residue, generated from the production of lactic acid, as an agricultural corrective. The residue has a high content of calcium in its composition and it was compared to calcium carbonate generally used as liming. Foliar applications of N-NO3 - were made in the 56th and 80th days after the plants germination, in equivalent doses to 40 kg N ha-1. At 60 and 85 days after the germination, foliar EM solutions (1mL L-1) were applied. Fresh corn plant mass and corncobs were measured and accomplished their analysis for quantification of nutrients content (N, P, K, Ca, and Mg) in the vegetative parts (stem and leaves) and reproductive (corn tassel, fodder, horn and grains). The soil material used in the experiment was chemically characterized before and after the planting. The corn grains crude protein content was also evaluated. There was an increase of soil pH with liming and with application of the industrial residue. "Sol da manhã" variety was more efficient to remobilize N and P to the grains. BRS 1010 had a higher level of K, Ca, and Mg in the grain, when it was fertilized with EM and calcium carbonate. Plants treated with the industrial residue had higher production of fresh biomass, which did not happen for the corncob. "Sol da manhã" variety, when receiving EM by the foliage, showed a higher increase in grains crude protein than for nitric fertilization, when cultivated with the industrial residue. The EM foliar application is a promising alternative to the nitric fertilization, aiming the increase of corn grains protein, as in the conditions of this experiment.
