RESUMO

In the years of 1990, the flows of transport of passengers realized through small transport vehicles (kombis, vans, motorcycles) in the great and medium Brazilian cities is intensified. Such activity had excited controversies in the society ahead the ambivalences between the attendance to a repressed demand and the impacts produced by the movement of these micron-units of transport in the urban space. The analyses undertaken on the thematic had tended to approach it in the scale of the country or the city, not privileging its peculiarities in the urban axis. It emerges, thus, the necessity to apprehend the phenomenon in local scale, starting from the presupposition that the âappropriationâ of these axis presented itself conditioned by the specifities of the passengersâ flows and by the different uses and occupations that characterized the dynamics and the functioning of this activity, whose actors sketched its territorialities acting in breaches of the conventional collective transport. In this assertive, the transport did by kombis and vans, in the scope of this research, is learned as an alternative to the population displacements as a result of the regular or formal transport crisis, as it is called, and, in certain measure, a job alternative face to the context of social-economic crisis. In the yearning to apprehend this reality, it is analyzed the flexible territorialities of the alternative transport, through the kombis and vans flows between the Caxangà Avenue and the suburb of Boa Viagem, areas that are characterized as production and attraction poles of intense people flows in the city of Recife. From the direct observation, realized through trips along the kombis and vans routes, and the catched impressions about this activity in the perspective of its operators and users, it was possible to apprehend the way the actors of the alternative transport (drivers and collectors) sketched its territorialities, establishing, strategically, their routes, overlapping to buses courses and conditioning them it the passengers flows. Acting according to a market logic, these actors offered attractive to the users, over all bigger rapidity to the displacements, aiming at from development of these practices to guarantee the permanence of this transport form in the city
