Aspectos físicos do ambiente: suas influências no ato de criar

RESUMO

The main goal of this study was to identify the main aspects of a physical environmentthat, according to freshmen students, promote creation. The students (N=158)were selected from a private university located in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. They were enrolled in two courses a) Industrial Design and b) Social Communication. This group was requested to solve four activities of Torrance "batteryof creative thinking". Afterwards, the participants were asked to point out the words that they associated with the following stimulus: Creative Physical Environment .The first activity aimed to identify the most creative students, that is, those that got the highest searas. In the second task, the responses were organizedand categorized by the researcher, following the technique known as a Conceptual Map. Finally, the four most creative students were interviewed, in arderto gain a beijar and more profound understanding of the meanings conveyed by the Conceptual Map. The results showed that for a specific environment to be considered as a creative one, it should offer specific physical, social, and material conditions. Those conditions saem to elicit feelings that are related to creativity, indicating the importance of the environment for the development of original thinking. It can be said that the study has a double contribution: it increases the knowledge about the physical environment s aspects that enhance creativity and permits to plan and to implement environments able to optimize the creative thinking, fostering the quality of the academic experience
