RESUMO

With the aim of contributing for the technical viability of rubber tree mini-grafting, studies were developed concerning some physiological and biometeorological aspects related to sprout production for grafting and the behaviour of the grafted plants under field conditions. Some aspects of the mini-grafting technics were altered, including modifications on the graft fixation system and on the irrigation squeme. A technic for sprouting disinfection was also applied, which reduced the graft mortality caused by fungus. The break of apical dominance treatments in potted plants cultivated in greenhouse resulted, in the case of plants with excised apex and for the plants pruned above the fourth leaf flushing, on a ?distance effect?,with the sprouting occurring immediately under the cutting point. Due to the vigorous sprouting growth, a tendency for the recovery of the dry weight and leaf area was observed for the pruned plants, which, however, as in the case of the excised apex plants, presented a senescence of the leaves from the lower portion of the stem. The treatments did not alter the amount of total soluble sugars in the bark but, in the case of the girdling plants an accumulation of starch in the upper portion of the stem was observed...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
