RESUMO

Alveolitis is an inflammatory process involving the bone portions of the more superficial of the alveolar dental. To enable an evaluation of the "mechanism" of alveolitis of dental extraction in male rats treated with Elixir SanativoÂ, through histological examination with the aid of a light microscopy were used 36 rats (Rattus norvegicus albinus) Wistar. The animals were anesthetized with ketamine (10mg/kg wt) + xylazine (0,5 mg/kg wt) and submitted to extraction of the superior right incisor and subsequent alveolitis by the introduction of adrenaline 1:1000 during 15 minutes. After 48 hours, onfirmmed the alveolitis, the animals were divided into two groups: I - water (control) and II treated with Elixir Sanativo in the dosage of 4,1 mg/Kg increased daily at the animals drink water. These groups were subsequently divided into three subgroups A, B and C, corresponding to the 6th, 15th and 21st day of alveolitis, respectively. The specimens were fixed in 10% formol for 24 hours, decalcified and processed for light microscopy. The healing of the alveolus proceeded even in the presence of alveolitis, being only slight in group IIA rather more substantial in group IIB and compared with the normal findings in the group IIC with compared with the control groups. The best results were obtained after 21 days of treatment
