Avaliação do Nível de Informação Percepção e Conduta de Pacientes dos Setores Público e Privado Sobre AIDS e Infecção HIV.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to assess the level of knowledge, perception and behavior of the patients who attend regularly the health public and private department, about AIDS in Montes Claros city- Minas Gerais . Three- hundred and ninety (390) patients had been interviewer, one- hundred and ninety-five from each department. AIDS, Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is an infectious disease caused by a virus that reaches the patient immunological system It is an epidemic which requires knowledge about transmission, biosecurity, prevention and which extends through ethical and legal aspects. The AIDS/HIV approach stands out confrontations and personal limitations for dealing with this reality. The results of the research show that the patients realize that their dentists wear individual protection equipments (IPE), mainly gloves and masks. The wearing of the IPE it is not yet a constant .It becomes evident that the patients are adamant about the wearing of IPE from their dentists. According to the health questionnaire only 30.8 % of the patients interviewer told that their dentists frequently ask about their health in general . And 75.9% total that their dentists did not ask about a possible contact with HIV or if they have the virus. Their scientific knowledge according to the universal recommendation of biosecurity and the health questionnaire register. In relation to the knowledge evaluation of AIDS/HIV even though 72.5% (average among the two departments) of the patients declare themselves informed in following questions they showed that are not well. Informed about the HIV transmission, the attitude and the behavior of the interviewer dealing to HIV positive show fear, prejudice beliefs and insecurity in admit and suspicion in facing people who are infected by the virus, in the same place for instance the dentist?s office. The research shows that patients need to extend their knowledge about AIDS/ HIV. The percentual evaluation of the patients that submit themselves to the test for coming to know if are HIV positive, pointsout, as an average result among the two departments , that 30% of the interviewer were tested.
