RESUMO

In the present work, a cogeneration system of a sugar-alcohol cane mill isevaluated. Using the Exergetic Cost Theory, a thermoeconomic analysis is made for three crops, corresponding to the years of 1996, 1997 and 1998. Previusly, na energetic and exergetic analysis was made, determining the first and second law equipment s efficiencies and also some performace criteria of the overall system. This performance criteria are compared with characteristic values of other cogeneration systems. The fundamental objective ofthe evaluation was to get the costs of the principal fluxes of the system and specifically of the prodects: electric and mechanical power, and process heat. The cost considered were the installation, capital and maintenance costs, the cost of resources: water and bagasse, were also considered. A capital recovery period of 15 years was assumed, with a discount rate of 12 %. Different considerations were made: i - influence of the resource costs of the fluxes were calculated considering only this part of the total costs, ii - influence of the boiler efficiency,considering different prices for the bagasse, iii - in the crops of 1997 and 1998, three different treatments were made for the steam lost to the atmosphere
