RESUMO

Ammonia is one of the nitrogen derivative that has a great industrial importance and, such as, its production from the synthesis gas (N2:H2) has been by several investigators. catalytic studied the extensive bibliographical research shows a good agreement among several authors as for the existence o f a dissociative mechanism for the reaction on iron promoted catalyst, whose surface behaves as energetically non-uniform. It is although an uncertainty about the nature and number of determinant steps, as well as about the nature of the most abundant species at the surface, that is explained by the different methods of catalyst preparation, and explain by the other hand, the elevated number of rate equations that has been proposed for this reaction. An assured kinetic analysis must be conducted with a powerful and simple method of experimental data analysis. For this reason, it was developed an integral method of kinetic data analysis, specially applicable to conversion data obtained in integral tubular reactors. The discrimination between kinetic rival models and simultaneous parameter estimation must be based on assured experimental kinetic data. The application of such method to available conversion data for ammonia obtained in integral tubular reactors, shows that this data are deficient, because the tubular microreactors employed do not behaves in accordance with the hypothesis inherent to the methodology of kinetic analysis. Taking into account the limitations of this data , it is possible to conclude that the classic Temkin-Pyzhev rate equation for the catalytic ammonia synthesis best fit the data, but is recommend however that this conclusion must be confirmed from kinetic data preferably obtained in mixing microreactors.
