RESUMO

Originated from the observation and comparison between the management of green areas, offered by the borough prefectures and the landscape treatment sponsored by private companies by means of cooperation terms, this work discusses the law about adoption of green areas in the city of São Paulo. Some research methods used to analyze the green areas part of the adoption program, were results of interviews and local visits, gathered from some companies that are part of this partnership. The result of this evaluation shows the need of adjusting technical management operations, like problems related to lack of an irrigation point, infrequent visits from gardeners and poor variation of the plant species used, specially on flower species; and also the lack of inspection by government agencies during the partnership period. It would not be too much to highlight the notorious advance in the quality of maintenance services in adopted green areas, when compared to the services given by the borough prefectures. The general idea of this work is to show how necessary is the use of right tools on the management, with main focus on developing the procedures that promote the amelioration in quality and quantity on management and conservation of green areas, and consequently contribute to recover degraded areas within the urban limits. The plant element, on the urban green areas, is one of the basic components in the city landscape; especially if considered the uncountable adversities present on the urban environment. Even though, it is possible to use these data to any other urban area, with eventual adaptations, the special reference of this work will be the city of São Paulo. Given their importance, surface protection elements, will be analyzed like plant coverage, with the purpose to present information that will allow the elaboration of a technical operational guide for the management of urban green areas. Information that will work as a support to interested parts in adopting green areas by terms of cooperation; although there are other literatures with this purpose, the decree that regulates cooperation terms is deprived of technical material intended to inform about landscape revivification and its appropriated conservation. In this case, these procedures, if adopted, will also contribute to cost reduction during implementation and maintenance of green areas. Also a better life quality and comfort to users, allowing them to enjoy, praise and respect; because the abandoned look of our green areas interferes negatively on its use and also promotes vandalism. The availability of a guide with technical procedures, which attends the needs of interested people in adopting a public green area by corporative means, would allow a better research in order to benefit the urban landscape and contribute for a better selection of plants to be used
