RESUMO
This study analyzes the implications of the adoption of outsourcing by housing construction companies whose aim is to increase competitiveness by minimizing the costs. In this context, outsourcing emerges like a synonym to worsening working conditions and to rising unemployment. It was also analyzed the literacy projects implemented in the construction sites by contrasting the view expressed by the administrative sector of the studied construction company and by the workers who attended the school about the meaning, the importance and the role played by education.
