RESUMO

Software development projects have showed recurring problems of performance on costs, schedule and quality. The high complexity of managing these projects requires that erformance measures and quantitative management techniques be applied to identify precisely the projects situation and its ability to meet future goals. However, studies on this subject have show several examples of failures in the implementation of measurement programs due to a large number of complex, not standardized and unnecessary measures, not aligned with the organization strategy. It is important to identify relevant measures to assess the performance of the processes involved in software development. Considering that the engineering process areas of CMMI-DEV (Capability Maturity Model for Development) represents the largest amount of effort involved in software projects, this research aims to identify a catalogue of measures, which allow the performance analysis of these processes. To this end, the software performance measures most referenced in the literature were collected and classified. These measures were then consolidated into indicators and organized in a catalogue, which allows the analysis from different performance perspectives of the engineering processes areas of CMMI-DEV. This research presents an application example of the catalog of measures, and suggests the steps for the deployment of the catalog in organizations that aims to precisely analyze the performance of its software development processes.
