RESUMO

In this thesis, the development of a methodology for detection of High Impedance Faults in primary distribution feeders is presented. The technique used is based on the feeder response to a short pulse signal periodicaly injected at the substation outlet. The response to each pulse is compared to the ones previously stored in a database. The database contains the feeder response to the known normal operating configurations. It is assumed that if the response does not coincide with any of the stored responses, then the feeder is operating in a faulty condition. Three different techniques have been implemented and tested using data collected from a real feeder of Campanhia Energetica de Minas Gerais (CEMIG), at Caratinga city, State of Minas Gerais (MG), Brazil...
