DESESTABILIZAÇÃO DE EMULSÕES VISANDO A REDUÇÃO DO TEOR DE ÓLEO EM ÁGUA

RESUMO

One big problem in the mineral industry is concerned to the disposition of oil effluents, due to formation of emulsions, during the different steps of the ore processing. Various types of soaps and detergents are used in the process, making the emulsions very stable. Thus, it becomes necessary to treat these effluents before being discarded, in order to reduce its impacts in the environment. In this work it was objectified to evaluate the efficiency of different coagulants and floculante in the run down of emulsions, to reduce the tenor of oil in the water. The emulsions had been prepared using acid oleic and a commercial detergent (surfactant agent), in order to produce steady emulsions of the oilin- water type (O/W). For the run down of emulsions, the assays had been carried through using an inorganic salt (NaCl), three coagulants (Al2(SO4)3, FeCl3 and Al2Cl6) and a flocculant (PAM). The times of conditioning of emulsions with the reagents had been of 5 and 15 minutes, under agitation. After this conditioning, the emulsions had been left in resting and, that been measured its values of turbidez in determined intervals. The results gotten for the reduction of the turbidez for the salt had been raised, however the time of resting to get these results was of 48h, making impracticable the process. For the used coagulants significant reduction of the turbidez was gotten (>90%) for a time of resting of 48h. Although, the best results had been found for the use of coagulants and flocculant associates. The reduction in the values of the turbidez was given because of time of resting (15 minutes) and in considerable values. For 48h, the reduction degree was greater that 98% in relation to the initial turbidez of emulsions. This way, that procedure can be more efficient in the industrial point of view, reducing the time of conditioning, resting and recirculation of water in the processes.
