Development and yield of eight mandarin cultivar and hybrids on four rootstocks / Desenvolvimento e produtividade de oito cultivares e híbridos de tangerinas sobre quatro porta-enxertos

RESUMO

An experiment was installed in Bebedouro, SP, Brazil in 1997, with the objective to evaluate the effect of rootstocks Rangpurlime (C. limonia Osbeck), Swinglecitrumelo (P. trifoliata Raf. x C. paradisi Macf.), Cleopatramandarin (Citrus reshni Hort. ex Tan.) and Orlandotangelo (C. reticulata Blanco x C. paradisi Macf.) on growth, yield and fruit quality of Fallglomandarin [(C. reticulata Blanco x (C. paradisi Macf. x C. reticulata Blanco)] x (C. reticulata x C. sinensis L. Osbeck), Swatowmandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco), Ellendaletangor (C. reticulata Blanco) x (C. sinensis L. Osbeck), Fortunemandarin (C. clementina Hort. ex Tan.) x (C. tangerina Hort. ex Tan.), Novatangelo (C. clementina Hort. ex Tan.) x (C. paradisi Macf. x C. reticulata Blanco), Fairchildmandarin (C. clementina Hort. ex Tan.) x (C. paradisi Macf. x C. reticulata Blanco), Sunburstmandarin [C. clementina Hort. ex Tan. x (C. paradisi Macf. x C. reticulata Blanco)] x [C. clementina x (C. paradisi x C. reticulata Blanco)] and Fremontmandarin (C. clementina Hort. ex Tan.) x (C. reticulata Blanco). In the majority of the cultivar and hybrids, differences in the cumulative yield, yield efficiency and alternate bearing index had not been registered in function of the rootstocks. The largest trees were on Orlandotangelo, Cleopatramandarin and Rangpurlime, while those on Swinglecitrumelo were smallest trees. Fruit from trees on Swinglecitrumelo and Cleopatramandarin had the highest soluble solids and total acids concentrations, representing good options to diversify the rootstocks in mandarins.
