RESUMO

This study had the purpose of describing, discussing and analyzing the manifestation of diligence of part time (nocturne) and full time (diurnal) undergraduate students in their multiples dimensions, such as, Discipline, Conformity and Responsibility, Motivation, Devotion and Spirituality, Concentration and Assimilation, in pre-selected undergraduate courses of Campinas State University (UNICAMP). One of the objectives was to find out in what measures the other factors, such as, sex, marital status, age, job, turn and family income, are related to diligence. Besides this, it was researched the lifestyle and the habits of the students inside and outside the university, as well as, a possible relationship between the diligence average and the academic performance average of the undergraduate students of Campinas State University (UNICAMP). In the study it was utilized both the qualitative and the quantitative research, as a complementary study. It was collected the data of quantitative research through the Diligence Inventory, to undergraduate students of Food Engineering, Chemistry, Education and Economics of UNICAMP. The application of the Diligence Inventory had the objective of testing the level of diligence. It was applied to two hundred and two undergraduate students. The qualitative aspect of the research was completely done by recorded personal interviews, transcribed and latterly analyzed. It was utilized a representation of twelve students among pre-selected undergraduate courses. The results of this multidimensional investigation made possible to conclude that different ethnographic variables, such as sex, marital status, age, job, turn and family income, are related to the multiple dimensions of diligence and interfere in the academic life of undergraduate students, as long as, study habits, motivation, concentration and assimilation of contents, responsibility, discipline, organization and time administration, can contribute to a better performance in their academic life.
