RESUMO

In this work was made an investigation about the dynamics and implementation of optimization and control strategies in the penicillin production process. Initially a deterministic and non-structured model of this process was presented for the growth and production phases, operating in a batch and feed-batch mode. For the model development was considered Contois growth type model, yield coefficients among growth, substrate and oxygen uptake, production specific rates, endogenous and maintenance metabolismo In the antibiotic production was considered hidrolisys from penicillin to peniciloic acid through a first order kinetic and substrate excess product inhibition. In relation to dissolved oxygen concentration the volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient was estimated through correlations based on agitation speed, aeration flow rate, apparent viscosityas a cell concentration function, in order to quantified the non-Newtonian behaviour. The heat balances for the reactant and refrigeration systems were performed considering the heat generation due cell metabolism and the power agitation, and the heat loss due evaporation caused by aeration, refrigeration system changes and substrate adition...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
