RESUMO

This research was about the development and valuation of a Distance Education Course to update nurses in Cardioversion and Defibrillation on Intensive Care Unit, through Internet, to helpful the learning and divulgation of informations. Also had the purposes: to describe course’s development; to describe students’ profiles; to evaluate students’ participation; to evaluate the course by experts in Distance Education and Intensive Care Unit and the students’ opinion. The used methodology was the Case-based Learning, which was the topic proposed inside collaborative learning environments. The learn virtual environment was the TelEduc, developed in State University of Campinas. 11 nurses concluded the course, with a desistance index of 47,6 %, considerate admissible in the literature. The students participated in 4 debates forums and developed 3 cases collaboratively. The course was evaluated before and after the application to the students, by experts in Distance Education and Intensive Care Unit, in the rules: authority, general content, presentation, informations’ veracity and educational project. The experts in Distance Education considered the course adequate, but needing some adjustments in all rules and experts in Intensive Care Unit considered the course totally adequate in the rules informations’ veracity and educational project and was adequate but needing some adjustments in others rules. The course had acceptation and was evaluated positively, according to students’ opinion. The purposes were succeded, the course was developed in time and need some adjustments and the methodology Case-based Learning was adequate to a distance course for nurses.
