RESUMO
Aiming to use agro-industrial residues in animal feed, an completely randomized design experiment was carried out with 600 broilers, male, Ross, distributed in five treatments and six replicates with 20 birds per experimental unit. The broilers received diets supplemented with 0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0% of mango residue, Mangifera indica L., variety Ubá, (FRM), in order to comply with nutritional requirements of the initial period (1 to 21 days) and finishing period (22 to 42 days). At 14, 28 and 42 days, six animals from each treatment were sacrificed and the tibia were removed to be analyzed for the physical aspects (weight, length, density, porosity and area of cross section), mechanical (moment of inertia, loaded in flexure, resistance to bending and toughness), chemical (content of ash and calcium, phosphorus and magnesium in the ash and the Ca:P in the ash) and biochemical (protein content of collagen (CP) and non-collagenous proteins (NCP)). The tibia of the birds at 14 days of age presented significant changes (P <0.05), as compared to the control, on the physical parameters (weight of the bird, length, density, porosity and weight of bone), chemical parameters (ash content and phosphorus) and mechanical parameters (load, modulus of rupture and toughness), with inclusion of 5% to 10% FRM in the diet. At 28 days of bird age there was significant change (P <0.05) in physical parameters (weight of the tibia) and biochemical parameter (NCP) with inclusion up to 10% of FRM in the diet. And, at 42 days there was significant change (P <0.05) only in biochemical parameters (NCP and CP), with the inclusion of up to 10% FRM in the diet. Overall, considering the results, the meal residue of mango may be added up to the proportion of 5% to the initial diet (1 to 21 days) and up to 10% to the growing diet (22 to 42 days), without any impairment of physical, mechanical and biochemical parameters of the 42 days broilers tibia bone.
