RESUMO
The aim of this study is to approach the life and the works of José Bento Monteiro Lobato (1882-1948), investigating the way he dialogued with racial theories and eugenics. In the historical context of 20th Century first decades to discuss the nation concerning to discuss the racial makeup of the Brazilian people and his possible consequences to the Brazil future. Thus, I intend to analyze how the writer announced and propagated the project of social interferences, which in a more extensive meaning, was linked to the theme of national regeneration
