RESUMO

In recent years the importance of argumentation in school science has been recognized, the Toulmin model of argumentation being one of the most accepted. In the present investigation, framed by the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on the theme of minerals with high school chemistry students from Mexico, we introduce a new tool called the Heuristic Diagram that facilitates the acquisition of the argumentative competence.
