RESUMO

The diet of Pseudomyrmex gracilis (Fabr. was studied on the campus of State University of Campinas (Campinas, São Paulo) from 1984 to 1986. This ant was observed feeding upon small artropods and secretions of extrafloral nectaries in quantities that varied monthly and between years. The most frequent insect in the diet was Psyllid homopteran that, comprised 50% of the dieta Although present in traps from different sites, opsyllids were not included in the diets from different colonies. It is suggested that the clumped distribution of Psyllidae, especially when concentrations occur near ant nests, are a major determinant affecting their inclusion in the diet of a P. Gracilis colony. Ofher arthropods also included in the diet were herbiuores and herbivore predators but some generalist predatof s were also inc luded. Many of these prey haue clumped distributions
