RESUMO

The main purpose of the following thesis is to set-up the finishing sector of cast parts through the development of polyvalent workers. Taking "polyvalence and multitasking," not only as a way to adequate the worlananship to the process requirements or to cellular lay out, but also using polyvalence as a way to provide personal improvement for the employees. The polyvalence can built a high-motivation levei environment, in which ali changes in the organisation of the work could result in a significant improvement of performance. It also highlights the importance and topicality of this subject. Firstly, the thesis will establish a differentiation between the polyvalence and multitasking terms. Second, the company where the work was developed is introduced, including a description of its processo The change from traditional management to polyvalence is also explained, as well as the intended achievement in regards to workers performance. Finally, the obtained results will be presented and commented. Upon it may be noticed that polyvalence is a relative new arrangement and needs more study
