RESUMO

Vehicular transmissions are the way to adapt the torque supplied by the engine to that required at each moment of the path of a vehicle. Automatic gearboxes are among severa! types oftransmissions. Epicyclic Gear Trains, EGTs, are fundamental components ofthis kind of mechanical transmission. This kind of mechanism have been studied exhaustively trough the years. The study oftwo or more EGTs is very recent indeed. This work presents a model procedure of the Wilson gearbox. The Wilson gearbox is one in severa! ways to build combinations ofEGTs in automatic gearbox. This modeling is done with the Lagrangean processo Once that the dynamic model was done it was time to model the torque flow across the transmission. Modelling allows the numerica1 simulations in order to have primary results of the model. The very first set of results was used as comparison parameter for the subsequent result sets. The results obtained in this initial simulation were not as expected deceleration whi1e setting the gear ratios. Others simulations were done with variation on the values of the initially imposed parameters. Those variations are useful to know that a real need to do an appropriated selection of the constructive parameters of the transmissions. Other important result that was got from the parameter variation was to know that a control strategy is indicated to avoid some irregular behavior of the transmission. After the parameter variation realistc data are used. These data provide result that are expected, acceleration during the gear ratio setting. The last simulations done was that one were there was a loading applied to the transmission. It was an arbitrary loading, but it showed that there is a significant influence on the behavior and performance of the Wilson gearbox
