RESUMO

This work discribes the study of the Eletrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy technique -(EIS)-, applied to the analysis of copolymers prepared by grafting acrylamide monomers onto low density polyetilene matrices (LDPE -g-AAm). LDPE films were used as substract for acrylamide grafting at 5, 20, and 131%. The grafting copolymers were obtained by ionizing radiation. Alternating current impedance measurements against the grafting grade was performed for the purpose of analysing the efficiency of the EIS technique in the copolymers characterization. The eletrochemical analysis was performed in a eletrochemical cell specially made for testing polymeric films and using a saline buffer solution as electrolyte. The films were characterized by Infrared Spectroscopy using a reflection method (FTIR-A TR), topographic analysis by Scanning Electron Microscopy and thermal analysis by Differential Scaning Calorimetry. The impedance of the LDPE-g-AAm films decreased with the acrylamide grafting except for the five percent sample, which showed a significant increasing in the impedance measurements
