RESUMO

The phytochemical study of the Baccharis caprarieaefolia roots resulted in the isolation of Baccharisoxide 25, matricaria ester Z,Z 63( 1), matricaria ester Z,E 63( 2), b-friedelanol 21( 1 ), fatty acids 64(1), 65(1,2,3),a-spinasterol 34(2). From the leaves, we have isolated caryophylene oxide 29(3), spathulenol 24(1), a -spinasterol and from the branches we have isolated b-friedenalol. These compounds have already been detected before from other Baccharis species. He have also undertaken preliminary studies of the synthetic route to the cariocal monoterpenic synthon. The most suitable synthetic pathway envolved a ketoester cyanosililoxy derivative as the intermediate.
