RESUMO

(Size structure of the Campomanesia xanthocarpa). Berg (Myrtaceae) population in the Mata dos Godoy State Park-PR). In order to compare the size structure of the C. xanthocarpa population in different areas of the Mata dos Godoy State Park (?23 DEGREES?27?S and ?51 DEGREES?15W) Londrina, PR, Brazil and see if these varied in time, three sample areas of 5.000 ?m POT. 2? were set; one area flooded (AA) but the other two did not (ANA1 and ANA2). In the frequencies distributions the population was divided into seedlings (individuals without braches) juvenile I (>1 branch to 1.5 m tall) juvenile II (>1.5, tall to 20 cm in diameter) and adults (>20 cm diameter). The greatest differences for size structure in all the years and all the areas were in 1997, when a great number of recently germinated seedlings were observed. Compared to other years, the Gini coefficient was greatest in 1997 in the AA, when this area also had a greater coefficient than ANA2. the differences in the size structures of the species seem to be due to a an ephemeral seedling stage, suggesting that the structure in the three areas remained stable in time
