RESUMO

A analyses of the species formed after heat and/ or gamma-ray photon treatment of Cr(III)-doped K3Cr(CNS)6.4H2O, were made using a combination of chromatography and nuclear analytical methods. The behavior of doped crystals under photolysis at low temperature shows that K3Cr(CNS)6.4H2O has small sensitivity to light . However, the existence of ligand exchange in solution was noted even in the absence of thermal and light effects. Thermal treatment of doped samples shows the occurence of step reactions which are observed in the isochronal annealling radiochromatograms. On the other hand, the gamma-ray photo irradiations of doped crystals does not show considerable modifications in the relative distribution of the species. The combination of thermal and radiolytic effects makes more pronunciated alterations that when both act alone. Based on the data gathered in the course of this work a stepwise mechanism is proposed, in accordance with the experimental facts, to explain the reactions in the solid state of Cr(III) introduced into K3Cr(CNS)6.4H2O.
