RESUMO

The basidiomycete fungi Panus crinitus and Trametes villosa have been studied for their ability to degrade and decolorize Kraft pulp bleaching effluents (E1-stage). The results showed that the white-rot fungi P. crinitus and T. villosa exhibited a decolorization rate about 55-65% and 70-80%, respectively, during 1-2 days. The total phenolic content decreased in agreement with the decolorization rate. The production of lignocellulose-degrading enzymes as lignin-peroxidase (LiP), laccase, manganese peroxidase (MnP), b-glucosidase, glucose oxidase has been evaluated. The ligninolytic enzyme patterns were quite similar, being that laccase and lignin peroxidase were the major extracellular ligninolytic enzymes secreted by both the fungi, T. villosa and P. crinitus.
