RESUMO

A review is presented about: 1) Hemoglobin structure and function. 2) Erythrocyte membrane composition. a) The effects of vasodilators drugs dipyridamole and papaverine on the equilibrium dissociation curves of human hemoglobins treated by the drugs have been studied. b) The changes in the apoprotein in the presence of the drugs were investigated. c) The possibility that the drugs promote hemoglobin oxidation or an interaction with the metahaemoglobin were examined. d) Some functional and morphological properties of the human erythrocytes exposed to different concentrations of the drugs were studied, e) Attempts were made to verify the biophysical state of the ghosts from erytrocytes treated by papaverine and dipyridamole, by using spin labels methods
