RESUMO

A study on the hematologic changes and the immunological response against Anaplasma marginale was carried out in 20 bovines which were supplemented or not with alpha acetate dL tocopherol in the first year of life. Twenty calves of serum positive females in the for Anaplasma marginale had evaluated at birth, 15th day, 30th day and then until they complete one year old. During the experiment all the animals in the treated group (n=10) and in the control group showed riquettsemias >0.01% in at least one of the 14 studied moments. Six animals of the treated group and nine animals to the control group developed anemia associated Anaplasma marginale infection. The laboratory findings revealed the lower values for the erythrogram in both the groups at the 7th month of life. Failure in the immune passive transference of antibodies was detected in three calves of the control group and in four calves of the treated group. Significant correlation (p>0,05) between FTP and occurrence of anaplasmosis in the first year of life was not observed. Indirect fluorescent antibody test and ELISA MSP5r showed the 100% of the calves were soropositives in the 5th month of life. Supplementation with dL-alpha acetate tocopherol allowed a significant rise in the serum average values of alpha tocoferol in the treated animals. However the treatment with dL alpha acetate tocopherol, did not influence the erythrogram, and the occurrence of anaplasmosis in the two studied groups. Using the ELISA MSP5r a higher production of antibodies anti-Anaplasma marginale was observed in the 7th and the 12th month of age in the treated group.
