RESUMO

Management activities are becoming more complex with the continuo installation of network computers in companies or universities; even so they are indispensable and improve the quality of services produced for the users. The actual management systems, considered as distributed applications, are implemented based on the Client-Server paradigm. This model transforms the management activities into centralized operations at a single computer. Data of managed resources are being monitored and collected by agents and registered on a local data base. Functions executed by these entities are attributed at its stage of implementation. To access these services, management applications or manager located at the central station have to micromanage agents. With the emergency of new network technologies like ATMAsynchronous Transfer Mode, this process may produce higher risks of congestion at the network and increase time destinated for an immediate solution of eventual problems. These facts may turn the actual management systems into inefficient and not reliable solutions. Our work denominated Network Management with Mobile Agents GRAM, presents a paradigm with more flexibility based on mobile agents. The GRAM is designed upon the AgentWare V irtual Machine-AVM platform that supports execution in real time; local processing of data managed and is a heterogeneous and reliable solution. GRAM agents support dynamic attribution of new management functions and are controlled remotely. GRAM consists of feasible solution for network management
