RESUMO

This thesis is in the research line of Social Practices and Process of the Gerontology Graduate Study Program of the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The purpose hereof is the study of new technologies as a social inclusion subsidy, having as subject matter of study the elderly and their social inclusion. This essay aims at showing that human beings aging process requires a constant update of peoples general knowledge along time. Particularly: 1) examining the possibility of an active aging process, with the presence of new technologies in the familiar and social relationships; 2) describing changes resulting from the use of new technologies in professional relationships. The analysis material consisted of the researchers experience on the adults aging process and on the active life expectancy. The study was made by applying the theoretical analytic methodology. The results achieved with the use of a questionnaire and analysis of the corresponding answers thereto pointed out that Best Agers must keep themselves updated, should not fear challenges posed by new technologies, and can face the aging process in an active way within the society of which they make part. Everyone knows that aging is part of lifes cycle. However, coming to old age is an achievement. The conclusion hereof is that the study on the aging process and life quality contributed to understand the needs of these people as former students, while encouraging them to take part in this new world. For that reason, new perspectives are required to update best agers knowledge and follow them up, through Continued Education
