RESUMO

In this work two models were developed for the optical amplifier: the first is based on its gain curve and in the resolution of the model through the maximum value of gain; the second is based on the interactive resolution of the rate equations that describe the device, being used the values of the emission and absorption cross sections and the method of Runge-Kutta of fourth order to solve the rate equations. A library of models of optical devices was implemented for the system simulator tool SimNT, including the models of Erbium doped fiber amplifiers, pulse generators, filters, couplers, multiplexers, demultiplexers, optical sources, modulators, bit sequence generators, devices for visualization and analysis of results among others. AlI the models and algorithms were developed in C++ language
