RESUMO

The multisensor data fusion process is divided in stages. One of them is the evaluation of threats created by one or more entities in a certain environment. This stage usually requires artificial intelligence techniques to achieve inferences from the sensors. In this context, the technique called abductive inference, that can be used in the solution of diagnostic problems through the causal relationship between symptoms and disorders, is used as the method of inference in the airspace defense problem through the causal relationship among aircrafts, weapons and targets. This work presents a solution model for the airspace defense threats evaluation prob-lem using abductive inference in a multisensor data fusion contexto This modeling uses information from weapons and aircraft manufacturers, military intelligence and impor-tant country locations in a war situation. Abductive logic was used to specify possible targets for detected, identified and classified enemy aircrafts in a data fusion system. Identifying these targets can eliminate vulnerabilities such as using air defense radars in non-target locations and providing assistance to decision-making processes. Results show that abductive inference is an efficient method for the solution proposed
