RESUMO

There is no systematic and continued study on the mediological thoughts of Régis Debray in Brazil as of yet. The present work aims at addressing this theoretical gap studing Mediology in its role as an instrument for the analysis of ideas and of symbolic transmission. This way, the research aims at explaining the relationship between communication and Mediology, departing from questions related to this train of thought and its interactions with the field of comunications. Authors ideas from the field of Mediology were systematized and discussed, mainly Debray and Daniel Bougnoux. These authors were responsible for producing and systematizing knowledge on the forms and symbolic mechanisms of cultural transmission for over two decades.
