RESUMO

The objective of the present investigation was to obtain information on the relative contribution of the leaf and pod of the soybean plant in the supply of reduced nitrogen for the synthesis of amino acids and protein in the seed. For this study, the activities of nitrate reductase, glutamine synthetase and glutamate dehydrogenase were determined in the leaf, pod and seed during the fruit development stage. These enzymes are involved in the reduction and assimilation of nitrogen in the plant. The amino acid and protein contents were also determined. An experiment was carried out to determined which system of leaf-pod-seed would be most adequate for this investigation. The contribution of each leaf to the development of the pods and seed of the same node and of those on nodes immediately above or below was investigated by removal of different leaves and/or fruits on flower initiation. Only those organs situated on the ?5 POT. Th?, ?6 POT. Th?, ?7 POT. Th? and ?8 POT. Th? nodes were used, while those of the ?1 POT. St?, ?2 POT. Nd?, ?3 POT. Rd? and ?4 POT. Th? nodes were removed on flowering. The results showed that the leaves of the ?7 POT. th? and ?8 POT. Th? nodes can, as well as supplying their own fruits, supply the fruits of the ?5 POT. Th? and ?6 POT. Th? nodes... Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
