RESUMO

At present, the main difficulty found in vascular surgery is the evaluation of intra-operatory haemodinamic performance of vascular prosthesis. The proposed system uses a continuous wave Doppler directional ultrasonic equipment, a microcomputer and a cardiac monitor . The ultrasonic transducer is fixed on arteries and/or prosthesis using a special device, developed in this work, for on site blood flow evaluation. A 16-bit microcomputer connected to the ultrasonic system digitalizes, stores in a circular memory and processes a series of twelve mainly cycles chosen on screen by means of the keyboard, using functions also developed here. The signals are summed, having the peak of the GRS complex as trigger, to obtain the averaged result. A special software was developed to detect the GRS peak and calculate seven parameters. All the results, including the averaged curve are shown on the screen. Printed reports and files on floppy disk are possible. The results have shown that the system can help the surgeon in the evaluation of intra-operatory anastomosis blood flow performance
