RESUMO
We study the relation between technical changes and changes in the productivity of social work. The selection problem was the effect of products miniaturization is a tendency of technical change in electronic data processing equipment, through the analysis of recent patents. We consider that work elimination alters productivity maximus. Products` miniaturization was considered an expression of what we denominate work processes compaction. The thesis is a theoretical proposition about the relation between work processes compaction and the elimination of socially necessary work. We present the thesis verificability through five cases. The thesis contributes with analysis elements to productivity engineering.
