RESUMO

This work was motivated by my will of doing something that could reduce the difficulties faced by students of first year of high school in learning Newtonian Mechanics. Based upon the idea that CTS and HFS approaches contribute to the learning of science, it was created an approach containing elements of both, which is called, CTS-Historic approach. By the use of this approach, it was produced a didactic material. This didactic material consisted of two CDs - with Power Point presentations - two support texts, and even a manual for the teacher. The main point was, by means of a social and historical context, to help Physics teachers to teach Classical Mechanics. In order to match this aim, a key issue, which was called Satellites, was used to make the CDs and to work some Physics concepts inherent to the question. The presentations begin with a concept of satellites, including its functions and types. In order to make students to learn how those machines are put in orbit, it was necessary to give them the principles of the Universal Law of Gravitation. This was contemplated in CD1 by an explanation of the history of science; from Aristotelian Physics, passing by the works of Tycho Brahe, Kepler and Galileo, until Newtonian Mechanics. CD2 promotes a discussion over the invention of the satellites, considering its history by giving explanations about the Russian Revolution, First and Second World War and also the Cold War in which took place the Space Race, which led to the invention of the first satellites. This CD presentation finishes with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Soviet Union. Both CDs propose contextualization and interdisciplinarity. Once this didactic material was ready, the will to know the impact it would provoke, arose. In order to match this, two Physics teachers received this material and analyzed it. The data collection for this research was based on a semi-structured interview. The evaluation of the teachers signed that the material had a good acceptance and showed their intention of taking it to the classroom. The teachers also made some suggestions for the material and proposed other ways to use it.
